Studying The Impact of Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor -1 and Some Biochemical Parameters In Iraqi Children with Type -1 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract
Background: Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) defined as is a metabolic disease , featuring by hyperglycaemia, because of the insulin deficiency that occurs due to loss of the pancreatic islet β-cells . several studies in humans found that There were a relation between increase plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) concentrations with obesity 12, insulin resistance 13, impaired glucose tolerance . Serum PAI-1 was raised primarily at the level of impaired glucose tolerance arriving to DM.
Material and Methods: Total of (30) T1DM patients from Baghdad were participate in this study. Blood and serum samples were obtained for the estimation of HbA1C and serum PAI, FBG, albumin, total bilirubin levels.
Results: The pooled data of participants showed a positive correlation between PAI and each of and each of age ,gender ,FBG,Total bilirubin (r= -0.128, P=0.402,p=0.027,p=0.121) .The negative correlation of PAI with each of HbA1C ,albumin (r= -0.180, P= -0.151). was reported in participants . The study did not report a significant correlation between other parameters
Conclusion: Current study clarify that the prevalence of T1DM in male is higher than female among Iraqi children. There is significant increase in serum PAI-1 in diabetic patients when compared with control . Serum bilirubin levels of diabetic patients were significantly higher than that of healthy subjects and albumin levels were lower than normal subjects . A positive correlation between the mean of PAI-1 with both gender and age ,while a negative correlation between PAI-1 , albumin and HbA1c was demonstrated in this study.
