Aligners- Their Properties and Disposal

Abstract

In this ever-evolving world, with an increase in demand for aesthetics, Thermoplastic aligners have become the current trending and adaptive orthodontic treatment modality. However, with an increase in usage of thermoplastic aligners, there has been a constant surge of non -biodegradable plastic waste with each passing year, which in turn is making the world disease prone and unfriendly to the environment. So, to avoid environmental issues, we as an orthodontist should come up and work towards reducing plastic waste. Therefore, this SOP aims to provide guidelines to discard aligners in a systematic way to reduce biohazards.
