Abstract

Ageing is the basic process that occurs in all the systems of human body at cellular level. Falls are a major problem pertaining to the geriatric
population. Falls lead to decrease in the level of independence among them. It can result in serious trauma and accounts for increase in
mortality rate among the elderly. Thus falls becomes a major community health issue. Incidence of fall among elderly is 28-34%. On an
average 30% of falls need medical care and 10% end up in fracture.
