Exponential development, the knowledge society, the digital economy, competition in the labor market require increased attention to the problems of professional training, the formation of the necessary competencies, and the motivation of the individual for continuous learning. This discourse defined the tectonics of the lifelong learning paradigm. The article contains the scientific and methodological foundations of the problem under study, modern social theories and discursive analysis. It deals with the problems of the formation of the lifelong learning paradigm in the knowledge society, the implementation of competencies in educational programs. In this context, the scientific literature and modern research on the issues under study are analyzed. The purpose of this study is based on the analysis of the situation, the development of practical proposals and recommendations on this issue. The study used methods of comparative analysis, content analysis. The empirical source of the study is scientific, theoretical and sociological research related to the field of sociology, pedagogy, andragogy (adult education).
