Abstract

As the soul of Chinese music, the Yellow River Piano Concerto (hereinafter referred to as Yellow River) has a profound musical connotation and a rich emotional and nationalistic spirit. The researcher has reviewed a large body of literature and found that although there is a wide range of literature on the musical connotations of Chinese piano works, most of the articles have vague definitions of musical connotations without theoretical support, and to date there have been no articles on the musical connotations of Chinese piano music from a concrete theoretical definition perspective, which the author finds highly regrettable. In this paper, the evolution of the connotations of the piano concerto Yellow River in different periods is analyzed, and Валенти́на Никола́евна Холо́пова's theoretical basis of the three dimensions of musical connotation is innovatively used, from the emotional, descriptive and symbolic dimensions of musical expression, so that the reader can understand the expression of musical connotation in more detail.
