Music Interventions Among Individuals With Cancer: Examining The Implications For Music And Social Science Education

Abstract

Cancer is a serious health challenge which comes with severe pain, financial stress, emotional stress, fear of loss of life amongst others. Music therapy is one of the coping strategies that cancer patients need to stay strong during and after treatment. This integrative review study analyzed existing literature on the efficacy of music interventions for people with cancer. It also highlighted the implications for music education and social science education. This study affirmed that music therapy is effective in helping cancer patients cope with pain, depression and other emotional and psychological issues they face, based on the reviewed literature.
